Who We Are

More Than
Just A Club

Camden United FC is a registered Community Interest Company founded in 2019 by a group of friends following the tragic loss of several close friends to serious youth violence in Camden. What began as a support network for a few friends and family has evolved into the borough's leading provider of youth provision for young people aged 16+, supporting 80 to 100 active members each week through football, mentoring, and personal development.

Football is how we bring young men together, but our work goes further. Through trusted relationships and long term support, we help members build resilience, ambition, and wellbeing, and connect them to workshops and opportunities across Camden. We run an open age Saturday team, two midweek teams for ages 16 to 25, and a side for founding members aged 25 and over.

Through the Munye League, founded and run by Camden United, we also connect young people across eight Camden based clubs in the open age league and five organisations in the 16 to 18 programme, creating a trusted network of support and opportunity beyond our own squads.

Working with young men is central to our mission. Through lived experience and long term support, we help them build resilience, develop ambition, and create positive futures for themselves and their communities.

Born From Community

Founded in 2019 as a CIC after friends were lost to serious youth violence. It began as a support network that grew into Camden’s leading youth football provision for ages 16+.

Lived Experience

Our founders, coaches, and volunteers grew up on Camden’s working class estates, giving us the credibility to reach young men who may never access formal support services.

More Than Football

Weekly football sits alongside mentoring, workshops, and partnerships that open doors into education, employment, coaching, and community leadership.

Beyond Our Squads

The Munye League

Founded and run by Camden United, the Munye League connects young people across eight Camden based clubs in the open age league and five organisations in the 16 to 18 programme: a trusted network of support and opportunity across the borough.

Through the Munye League we use football to engage young men aged 16 to 18. From that point we deliver workshops and mentorship sessions with them, building belonging on the pitch and pathways off it.

  • Started it off ourselves
  • Became funded by GO! London
  • Camden Council part fund it and provide pitch space
  • Completely free, removing the financial barrier

Why partner with us

Camden United is more than a football club; we're a community driven movement founded by young people from Camden, built on the belief that football should be a route to opportunity, not just competition. As a CIC supporting young men aged 16+, we run three teams: Saturday open age First Team, two midweek sides for ages 16 to 25, and a founding members team (25+), giving members structure, belonging, and a pathway both on the pitch and off it.

Partnering with Camden United means aligning your brand with a genuine grassroots story: real players, real community impact, and a mission rooted in giving young people in Camden a stronger future. Our partners don't just sponsor a shirt. They become part of that story, visible to our community both in Camden and across London.

What our partners get

  • Direct visibility with an engaged, growing local community
  • A genuine, story led partnership, not just a logo placement
  • Association with a mission driven club making a real difference for young people in Camden
  • Opportunities across shirt sponsorship, matchday and advertising placements, content collaboration, and community events

Camden United youth steering committee and partners outside Google HQ for The Camden Algorithm

In partnership with Google, Young Camden Foundation and Camden Giving, Camden United helped deliver The Camden Algorithm, a youth led AI and careers event at Google HQ for young people aged 16 to 25 living, working or studying in Camden.

Over six months, a Youth Steering Committee of 15 young people, including Camden United members, co designed and delivered the full programme. The day brought together 200+ attendees for workshops on AI careers and personal branding, Google apprenticeship panels, hands on sessions with tools like Gemini and NotebookLM, and networking with industry leaders and local civic partners.

The partnership showed what happens when a grassroots club and a global company invest in young people from Camden: real access, real skills, and a platform that proves football can open doors far beyond the pitch.

Mental Resilience Workshop

Young men from Camden United in a circle discussion during a mental resilience workshop

Camden United hosted a Mental Resilience Workshop for young men in our community, creating a safe space to talk openly about pressure, wellbeing, and building mental strength, using trusted relationships and football culture as the way in.

Guest speaker Jermaine Anderson (GMBPsS), a former professional footballer, shared lived experience and practical tools with members in a community setting at Peckwater Estate. Sessions like this sit at the heart of our mission: football first, then honest conversations that help young men seek support before reaching crisis point.

The workshop was delivered with support from GO! London and funded by the Mayor of London, in partnership with London Marathon Foundation, The National Lottery, and Sport England, showing how sport funding can unlock real mental health conversations for young people in Camden.

32 Borough Cup

About the 32 Boro Cup
Camden United players representing Camden at the London 32 Borough Cup

Camden United took part in the London 32 Borough Cup, the annual grassroots tournament that brings together young players from across all 32 London boroughs. Founded to combat youth violence and strengthen community relations, the Cup uses football to unite young people from different walks of life on one pitch.

Representing Camden, our squad gave local young men a proud platform to compete citywide, build confidence, and connect with peers beyond their estates. Taking part meant more than matchday football: it was a chance to belong to something bigger, travel together as a team, and show what Camden talent looks like when young people are trusted and backed.

That is how we engage youth: through real competition, shared identity, and positive pathways that keep young men involved in sport and community life rather than on the sidelines. Events like the 32 Borough Cup sit alongside our weekly football, mentoring, and workshops as part of a wider journey of opportunity for Camden United members.

In Memory

Abdulaziz Munye

Co founder · Rest in power · 1996 to 2022

Abdulaziz Munye co founded Camden United FC to help combat youth violence and give young people in Camden a free, welcoming place to play football. Growing up in Somers Town, he helped turn grief into community action after friends were lost to knife crime, including the murders of two brothers within six months of each other in 2018.

Together with co founder Hafid Ali, Abdulaziz built a club that removed barriers of cost and travel so young men could belong, compete, and support each other. His talent on the pitch was widely remembered, and his wider gift was bringing people together across Camden through the game.

Abdulaziz died suddenly in November 2022, aged 26. Players held a minute of silence at Market Road as United played on in his honour. Tributes poured in from across the borough, including from Camden Council leadership and community partners who recognised how many young lives he had inspired.

People were asking me whether we should cancel the game but I wanted to bring people together. It is what Abdulaziz would have wanted us to do.
Hafid Ali · Co founder, Camden United FC

In a letter dated 18 November 2022, Keir Starmer MP, then Member of Parliament for Holborn and St Pancras, wrote to offer condolences and praised Abdulaziz as someone who rolled up his sleeves after a painful time for the community, calling him truly the best of Camden for the lives he touched by setting up Camden United FC.
